NSW Government Funding – Smart and Skilled
Milcom Communications Pty Ltd (RTO No. 6859), operating as Milcom Institute, is an approved Smart and Skilled provider and delivers NSW Government-subsidised training in accordance with Smart and Skilled program guidelines.
About Smart and Skilled
Smart and Skilled is the NSW Government’s program that provides eligible NSW residents with access to subsidised vocational education and training.
Smart and Skilled funding may be available for:
• Nationally recognised qualifications listed on the NSW Skills List
• Approved short courses, including nationally accredited skill sets and part qualifications
Eligibility and subsidy availability are determined by the NSW Government and are subject to change.
You may be eligible if, at enrolment:
– You are a NSW resident
– You meet program-specific criteria for the chosen course
– You provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
– You complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment if required
Eligibility is assessed by Milcom at enrolment in line with NSW Government rules.
Student Information – Smart and Skilled
Under the Smart and Skilled program, students are required to be provided with consumer information prior to enrolment to enable them to make an informed decision about their training.
As part of this process, Milcom will provide students with information about:
• The qualification or course, including training and assessment requirements
• The student fee, any applicable subsidies, and any concessions or fee-free entitlements
• The mode of delivery, expected duration, and training location
• Any entry requirements, including language, literacy, numeracy, or prerequisite requirements
• Support services available to students
• Complaints and appeals processes
• Refund and withdrawal policies
Students will be required to acknowledge receipt and understanding of this information prior to enrolment.
Student Fees
Under Smart and Skilled, eligible students are required to contribute to the cost of training through a student fee.
Student fees vary depending on:
• The qualification or course
• The funding program
• Individual student circumstances
Some students may be eligible for:
• Fee-free training, or
• A concession fee, subject to eligibility criteria
Current student fees for each qualification on the NSW Skills List are published by the NSW Government and may change from time to time.
Eligibility Assessment
Eligibility for Smart and Skilled funding is assessed by Milcom at the time of enrolment in accordance with NSW Smart and Skilled eligibility requirements.
Students must provide accurate and complete information and supporting documentation to enable an eligibility assessment.
The final determination of eligibility is made during the enrolment process.
Enrolment
Enrolment in Smart and Skilled funded training is subject to:
• Confirmation of eligibility
• Availability of government funding
• Acceptance of Milcom’s terms and conditions
