ACMA Pit and Pipe

Course Overview

Pit and pipes are used for residences that will have telecommunication conduits installed underground into shared local network pits. The pits are required to manage connections between the conduits.

Our Pit and Pipe course is designed for participants to achieve the required skills and knowledge to competently install underground enclosures and conduit, either directly buried or in pits, for new or cable maintenance tasks in access networks for outdoor installations within customer premises or in public locations permitted by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). It also provides the skills and knowledge required to construct underground telecommunications infrastructure, made up of conduits and enclosures, for cabling provisioning..

It applies to technical staff who install underground infrastructure for new and upgraded telecommunications cabling for domestic, commercial, or industrial customers.

Upon completion of this course, participants will obtain a statement of attainment.

Note: This course does not include certification for asbestos removal

These courses are designed for technicians who are obtaining or currently hold an Open Cabling Registration and are seeking to acquire the required units of competency to be able to add the underground endorsement to their registration.

These courses are available as standalone options for technicians who specialise in certain cabling however, it is found most technicians like to add them all to their license
