Implement Traffic Management Plan

Short Course National
Nationally Recognised Training

Course Overview

This unit teaches the skills and knowledge needed to set up, supervise, check, and safely remove traffic management plans and traffic guidance systems used on civil construction sites.

It is designed for individuals training for supervisory roles who work in teams around live traffic and are responsible for helping keep themselves and others safe.

Rules and licensing requirements for this work can be different in each state, territory, or industry. Before using these skills on the job, the requirements with the relevant authority in your area must be checked.

Note: The terms Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) mean the same thing and may both be used. If your state or territory does not follow the National Model WHS laws, Milcom Institute will adjust this unit to match the local safety laws.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Interpret traffic management plans and site requirements
  • Apply WHS/OHS requirements when working in live traffic environments
  • Identify hazards and control risks related to traffic management
  • Set out traffic control devices according to approved plans
  • Communicate effectively with workers, road users, and authorities
  • Respond to incidents and changing site conditions
  • Safely close down traffic management plans
  • Complete required documentation and reports
  • Monitor traffic management activities and make adjustments when required

Upon successful completion, students will receive a statement of attainment
