Gas Test Atmospheres

Course Overview

Our Gas Test Atmosphere course is designed for participants who may need to monitor potentially hazardous atmospheres in the telecommunications carrier network and covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus, to determine whether it is safe for the proposed work.

It applies to situations where an individual may be required to conduct gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace, interpret readings, and take appropriate actions based on these readings.

Upon completion of this course, participants will obtain a statement of attainment.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

• Plan and prepare for gas testing
• Use gas testing equipment to test gas as required
• Interpret and report reading
• Monitor gas on an ongoing basis as required
• Take required action if readings are unacceptable
• Communicate required actions to be taken to appropriate personnel
• Clean and maintain gas testing equipment in accordance with procedures
• Inspect and fault-find monitoring equipment in accordance with procedures
• Return gas testing equipment to required location and in required condition
• Maintain records of tests and results in accordance with procedures
